Matt's practice focuses on representing employers in workers' compensation and employment litigation. A former partner in a large national labor and employment law firm, he has represented clients on issues relating to workplace injuries and employment law since 1992.
Matt's Workers' compensation clients include self-insured employers, insurance companies and third party administrators. He has represented clients in matters pending before workers' compensation judges throughout Pennsylvania, the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board, the Commonwealth Court, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Matt's experience in employment litigation includes representing large international employers in discrimination litigation arising under Title VII and related discrimination statutes, as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Matt is a frequent speaker and publisher on workers' compensation and employment law topics. He was the 2005 co-chair of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and has written nearly a dozen articles for the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer on workers' compensation topics from the employer's perspective. He has addressed various employer and insurer groups on workers' compensation issues and has been a featured speaker at Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Association seminars. Additionally, Matt has appeared several times as a workers' compensation panelist on the television show Christopher Naughton's Law Journal .
Matt received his law degree in 1991, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law. While in law school, Matt served on the administrative board and as research editor of the school's law review.
Matt is active in his church and community and coaches soccer and baseball.
